We represent the subrogated interests of property, marine, cargo, and other first-party insurers in litigation across the United States.
We view the practice as a cross-discipline requiring not only expertise in engineering and technical issues, but also an understanding of the impact of insurance coverage, and frequently, state and federal regulations.
Our lawyers prosecute claims arising out of fires, pipe ruptures, storage contamination, explosions, boiler, machinery and equipment breakdown, component part failure, gas and water leaks, and other accidents which lead to catastrophic losses.
- On behalf of certain Lloyd’s and London insurers, we successfully prosecuted and recovered in excess of USD 200 million against a national pipe manufacturer for the failure of its component part fitting, which caused catastrophic fire damage and business interruption loss of an oil refinery plant in downstate Illinois in 2001. The verdict was the single highest returned by a jury in Cook County, Illinois history.
