Brian is a litigation partner in the Chicago office. His practice focuses on defense of complex lawsuits in state and federal court on behalf of clients in the construction, transportation, hospitality, insurance, security, and healthcare industries. Brian has associated with local counsel to appear pro hac vice in individual cases in state courts including Oregon, California, Washington, Texas, South Carolina, North Carolina, New Jersey, Indiana, and Florida, and federal courts in Kansas, Iowa, and Texas.

- Won summary judgment for a defendant hotel franchisee in a federal Trafficking Victims Protection Renewal Act (TVPRA) case in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas in 2026
- Won summary judgment for a major international construction and development company in a construction negligence case in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 2020
- As first chair trial attorney, won one of the few (perhaps the only) liability verdicts in a third-party medical malpractice case against a pain management physician for prescription of opioid narcotics to the underlying plaintiff construction worker in Cook County, Illinois in 2017
- Served as lead litigator in the joint defenses of major national contractors enrolled in Owner-Controlled and Contractor-Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIPs and CCIPs) in many cases involving large-scale skyscraper and data center construction
- Defended a national retail company and an equipment rental company as lead counsel in trucking liability cases in state courts in Texas, South Carolina, and Illinois
- Defended regional contractors as lead counsel in many significant construction defect and injury lawsuits in state and federal court in Illinois
- Represented a major international shopping center corporation as lead counsel defending premises liability cases and prosecuting claims for indemnity and insurance coverage in Illinois
- Represented an international security company as lead counsel in several lawsuits in state courts throughout the United States
- Represented a regional managed care company undergoing bankruptcy proceedings as lead counsel in state court lift stay medical negligence and Nursing Home Care Act cases in Illinois
- Defended physicians and practice groups as second chair in several medical negligence trials from 2012 to 2015

Brian serves as an investigator for the Judicial Evaluation Committee of the Chicago Bar Association.
Brian graduated cum laude from Notre Dame Law School, where he won an award for the top grade in trial advocacy and coached the university’s debate team. Before law school, Brian completed two years of national service as a Teach For America Corps Member in Eastern North Carolina teaching science and mathematics.
Brian is active in Chicago’s cycling community in areas of club stewardship, rider mentorship and bike-related events. He raced for nine years, including in pro calendar criteriums and road races, retiring the week before taking the bar exam in 2012.
- Represented a regional contractor in disability discrimination proceedings and mediations before the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
- Represented a suburban Chicago church in a lawsuit brought by a former pastor and developed a defense based on not for profit corporation governance and tax law
- Advised physicians in employment contract negotiations
- Developed state and federal law compliant anti-discrimination policies and employee handbook materials for a regional contractor
