Edward is a seasoned and respected trial lawyer with an emphasis in catastrophic injury cases. His skill in the courtroom has been cultivated by trying difficult cases on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants. Edward and the firm are regularly asked to substitute in and become lead trial counsel in cases that are days away from starting trial. For the defense, Edward has repeatedly won defense verdicts in multi-million dollar claims.

As a result of his successes at trial and the manner in which he handles cases from beginning to end, Edward was recognized as Attorney of the Year for the Western United States by Old Republic Construction Program Group in 2011. On the plaintiff’s side, Edward has won numerous trials, including a seven-figure verdict which resulted in his membership into the Million Dollars Advocate Forum.

In the construction arena, Edward has successfully defended general contractors, subcontractors, municipalities, joint powers authorities, school districts, lumber suppliers, engineers, and other businesses in construction accident, construction defect, products liability, and toxic tort claims. He has won a remarkable 90% of the cases he has tried over the last 21 years. Edward also prosecutes subrogation and declaratory relief cases on behalf of insurance companies and insureds. In addition, he prosecutes and defends companies in corporate malfeasance, contract disputes and bad faith actions.

Edward also has extensive experience defending trucking and transportation companies in matters involving large loss injury claims, freight and property claims, commercial litigation and regulatory compliance. He has also represented motor coach companies, hazardous material shippers and independent contractors in matters involving the transporting of goods and passengers.
Regarding hospitality law, Edward represents hotels, resorts, convention centers, country clubs, restaurants, breweries and food and beverage producers. Both Edward and the firm have a longstanding commitment to the hospitality industry.

Edward travels the country as a national lecturer on construction law, the defense of catastrophic injury cases, and the tripartite relationship between the insured, its carrier, and defense counsel. Recently, he has spoken at the Council of Litigation Management’s Annual Conference, Keenan & Associates SEWUP Construction Risk Conference and at AON’s Contractor Safety Conference.

In addition to his litigation practice, Edward provides consultation to hotels, restaurants, construction and transportation companies on risk prevention, contract formulation and employment issues.

Edward is rated AV® Preeminent™ by Martindale-Hubbell, a member of the Defense Research Institute, Council on Litigation Management, and the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel. He also serves as a settlement officer for the Los Angeles Superior Court.
